Mokokchung, September 28 (MTNews): The National Helpline for Senior Citizens, Elder Line Nagaland celebrated its 1st Anniversary on 28th September 2022 at Angami Women Organization (AWO) Office Building Hall, Kohima.
Speaking at the program as a special guest Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire acknowledged the Elder Line Nagaland for taking such a noble initiative for the senior citizens. The Advisor said Nagas have a close attachment with their grandparents and try to take good care of them but practically the elders are “left all alone at home” while they are out for work, especially in the villages, and therefore urged the agency to spread the message to give better treatment by dropping them at Old Age Homes and pick them by evening to let them enjoy life with their friends.
Mhathung Tsanglao, Joint Secretary, Social Welfare Department, while speaking as the guest of honour appreciated the Elder Line Nagaland for their efforts in establishing Elder Line Nagaland and said that the journey had just begun. He also encouraged them to work hard with dedication to deliver the meaningful and prospective life of the Senior Citizens.
Program Manager, Elder Line, Neithonuo Liegise gave a brief history of Elder Line where he recalled the hardships faced when it was started on 28 September 2021, and said it was not an easy job to come up with such initiatives during the pandemic and thanked all the staff and stakeholders for the cooperation in coming thus far.
