The NSCN-U (Kitovi) in a statement issued through its MIP titled “More Escape From Confinement,” has announced significant political developments within its ranks. Eleven political members from the Khehoyi Camp in Nuiland District, including three Kilonsers, six Deputy Kilonsers, and two Tatars, have made a resolute decision to “reaffirm their commitment and loyalty” in support of Maj (Retd) RM Lotha, the President, and N Kitovi Zhimomi, the Ato Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN.

The relocated members include Tokiho Aye (Kilonser), Tokiho Tuccu (Kilonser), Kakiho G Zhimo (Kilonser), Botovi K Aye (Dy Kilonser), Akheto Swu (Dy Kilonser), Hojekhu Chishi (Dy Kilonser), Hotoshe H Jimo (Dy Kilonser), Asheto Shohe (Dy Kilonser), Hokugha Awomi (Dy Kilonser), Mughato Muru (Tatar), and Nitoho Ayemi (Tatar).

According to the statement from the MIP, the members who relocated from the Khehoyi camp recounted their experiences with ‘considerable distress’.

“They indicated that a small group of self-interested individuals within the camp orchestrated a troubling situation on Sunday, a day spiritually observed as a non-working day by the Christian community,” the MIP stated. On April 21, 2024, these individuals took the drastic step of “unofficially impeaching N Kitovi Zhimomi”, who was serving as the Ato Kilonser of Unification at that time, it added.

“This unprecedented action involved the clandestine organization of what can only be described as an Army Coup,” it continued.

The statement highlighted that the circumstances surrounding this coup were particularly egregious, as it effectively confined remaining camp members and barred them from exercising their freedom to leave. This maneuver blatantly contravened the established guidelines set forth in the “Yezabo,” the governing principles of the community. The members expressed deep concern over the implementation of an Army form of governance model in a modern democratic context, labeling it as an “egregious affront to the principles of civil discourse and human rights.” They emphasized that such practices are “utterly intolerable” for anyone truly committed to democratic values and human dignity.

The MIP stated that these political members are cohesive in their efforts to enhance and solidify the “Agreed Position,” recognizing its importance in guiding their collective actions toward an early Naga solution.

“Additionally, their steadfast commitment to supporting their undisputed leader demonstrates their dedication to effective leadership and a united vision for progress in bringing about peace and prosperity and a secured future for our younger Naga generation,” it added.
