The Phekmi Collegiate Forum (PCF) hosted a seminar titled “Embracing Organic Living: A Key to a Healthy Future” on April 12 at Phek Village.


The event was sponsored by Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA and Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, with a Poster Campaign supported by Er. Shekhotso Keyho.

Dr Pritpal Kaur, Superintendent of Police in Phek, addressed the gathering as a resource person, urging the Phekmi community to avoid chemical land application agents. She shared real-life examples of the adverse effects of chemical residues and highlighted the importance of sustainable agricultural practices. Dr. Kaur also discussed strategies for thriving economically within the agro-allied sector while maintaining environmental sustainability.

Dr Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK, Phek, emphasized the benefits of scientific farming methods, noting that modern techniques offer more precision and accountability compared to traditional practices. He elaborated on the Integrated Farming System, which promotes both subsistence and sustainability, with a strong focus on organic farming as the path to a healthier future.

Dr Sharanappa C.H, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) on Plant Protection, discussed methods for controlling pests and diseases without chemicals. He outlined cropping strategies designed to break the pest life cycle and prevent further spread, advocating for organic solutions.

The seminar also featured a discussion session led by PCF Vice President Kho-o H. Keyho, during which a resolution was adopted. The resolution called for a complete ban on chemical land application substances and stressed the importance of organic practices in agriculture and allied sectors.

The event began with an inaugural session led by Thuputo Venuh, Joint Secretary of PCF, and Pastor Kuzhohü Soho from PVCRC, who invoked God’s blessings. PCF President Veshe Chizo welcomed the attendees, and the Phek Flavours Women’s Group from Phek Village presented a folk tune. The program concluded with a benediction by Niekuvolu Lohe, Associate Pastor (Women) of Phek Village Baptist Church.
