The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has appealed to the Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland, for the early release of students’ scholarships for the current academic session, citing “significant hardship” faced by students due to prolonged delays in disbursement.
In a letter addressed to the Director of Higher Education, the Union said the delay has severely affected students who depend on the financial aid to sustain their studies and meet their daily needs.
“The prolonged delay in disbursing the scholarships has caused significant hardship to many students who rely on this financial assistance to support their academic pursuits and basic needs,” the Union stated. It added that the situation has become “increasingly difficult for students, particularly those from economically weaker backgrounds, to continue their studies without distress.”
The ENCSU urged the department to take immediate action to ensure that the scholarships are released “at the earliest possible time, without any further delay.”
The Union also expressed solidarity with the agitating students, stating that it “shall continue to do so until justice is served.”
Conveying optimism that the Directorate would act “in the best interest of the student community,” the Union concluded by appealing for “prompt and sympathetic action” from the authorities.
