End of an Era FC secures win against Chüziema FC despite slow start

Kohima, 22 September (MTNews): End of an Era FC secured a 2-0 victory over Chüziema FC in their opening match of the NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy 2023, held at the IG Stadium on Friday. Despite a slow start that mirrored the club’s name, the End of an Era team eventually found their rhythm.

It was Nyithong Magh’s precise cross in the 12th minute that found Medoneituo Sekhose, who opened the scoring, alleviating the team’s early pressure. Despite numerous opportunities, the team struggled to convert their chances, as their opponents defended resolutely.

 

In the second half, Nyithong Magh added his name to the scoresheet with a goal in the 56th minute, doubling the lead and securing the 2-0 win. This hard-fought victory propels the team into the pre-quarterfinal round. The responsibility now falls on Coach ST Sekhose to ensure the senior team’s fitness for their upcoming matches as they progress further in the tournament. In the pre-quarterfinal round, they will face either Sepfii FC or Khuzama Youth Organization.

 

NUSU KC prevails 2-1 over Rooster FC Phesama

 

In the tournament’s first match of Day 5, NUSU KC edged out Rooster FC Phesama 2-1. M. Phaowang ignited the scoreboard with a stunning long-range goal in the 28th minute for the NU team.

However, in the second half, Abei Kaimo equalized the score at the 46th minute, making it 1-1. With the match evenly poised, M. Phaowang once again found the back of the net in the 75th minute, securing their spot in the pre-quarterfinal round. Their next challenge will be against United FC Piphema in the round of 16.
