Kohima, 17 September (MTNews): ‘End of an Era,’ a club based in Kohima, has unveiled their football jersey for the upcoming 23rd NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy 2023, scheduled to commence Monday evening at the IG Stadium in Kohima.

The club, known as ‘End of an Era,’ is comprised of members from the Nagaland Senior football team who have united for one last campaign together at the NSF Trophy. Many of these footballers will be retiring from the sport after this tournament, said an update by the club’s management team.

Nagaland Football Association President & AIFF Executive member K. Neibou Sekhose officially launched the jersey during a ceremony held at 2K Hotel Kohima on Saturday evening. In his speech, Sekhose acknowledged the senior footballers’ contributions to Nagaland Football and expressed hope that the club would serve as an inspiration to the younger generation. He encouraged the footballers to consider roles as coaches, mentors, or referees in the future, thus paving the way for younger talents to compete at the district, state, and national levels.

The event was attended by Kohima District Football Association President Matthew Yhome and Chief of Referees Kutu Sekhose. The program was led by Kiyakhrienuo Solo, with an invocation by Temjen Ao, a special song performance by Vivonuo Belho, and Moko Koza.

According to the update, the team consists mainly of veteran players with the aim of participating in a competitive tournament before retiring. It mentioned that it’s a mixed squad featuring both young and experienced players. The team aspires to inspire the younger generation to view football as a means to attain higher objectives rather than just a leisurely pursuit. The club described football as a “game of hope” and hoped that the team’s participation would foster a sense of brotherhood, togetherness, love, and passion for the game, all with the common aim of achieving success in life.

Ating Konyak, a member of the team, shared, “We’ve been involved in football for a significant period, bringing accolades to the state. This tournament marks our final performance, and though it will be challenging for us, we are determined to give it our all.”

Teamwork in innovation drives success in various industries.
