Mokokchung, August 16 (MTNews): Mokokchung District Village Development Board Association inaugurated a building today at Dilong ward, Mokokchung with Metsübo Jamir, Minister of Rural Development as chief guest.

 

 

During a brief inaugural ceremony, Jamir remarked that the VDB building was not only individual asset, but for everyone, and that future generations will benefit from it as well.

 

He went on to urge village councils to engage in income generation activities in the village, saying that locals in town without a stable job should rather reside in the villages since development would take place with the funds obtained through RD department, removing much of the bogus job card entries. Concerning fraudulent job cards, he stated that numerous development funds were being sent to individuals who do not reside in the village.

 

The Minister also encouraged the employment of unemployed youths in the VDB board while also stressing on preserving the Ao language and rich tradition and culture of the Aos.

 

Dr. Imtinungba, President MDVDB Association speaking on the success story of the VDB building said that the building was bought with 90 lakhs and that it would generate an income of Rs. 22,500 per month.

 

Earlier during the program, short speeches were delivered by Shashank Pratap Singh IAS, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung and Tekachiba Longchar, Süngratsu Village Council Chairman.
