New Delhi, December 6 (MTNews): A delegation of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO), with Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland Phangnon Konyak met union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday.

 

 

The ENPO delegation held discussions on their demand for creation of a separate “Frontier Nagaland” state with home minister Amit Shah. The meeting was earlier scheduled to be held on December 3 but was rescheduled.

 

Following the conclusion of the crucial meeting, the ENPO talk team said that the meeting with Shah was “very successful” and that the union home minister assured of “a clear road-map for amicable, legislative and sustainable solution for Eastern Nagaland.”

 

The ENPO in a statement issued after the meeting also said that Amit Shah stated that the grievances and request for a separate entity is “understood.” The meeting was also attended by Secretary MHA, Director IB, Additional Secretary MHA (NE) and Advisor of Northeast. The ENPO leaders informed that Shah had expressed concern and granted ample time to the team for the talk.

 

It said that the Union Home Minister Shah had appreciated the Eastern people for being a part of the nation-building thus far and acknowledged that the grievances and request for a separate entity were “understood”.

 

The ENPO talk team also said that Amit Shah appreciated the people of Eastern Nagaland “for being a part of nation building,” of which Shah said the Prime Minister is also aware of.

 

Shah was said to have highlighted a “clear roadmap for amicable, legislative and sustainable solutions for Eastern Nagaland which will include consultation with the people of Eastern Nagaland and the Nagaland State Government.”

 

The ENPO talk team also stated that the Union home minister assured them that he will visit Eastern Nagaland by January 2023. “… the ENPO eagerly awaits his visit,” the talk team further said.

 

The meeting between the ENPO talk team and union home minister Amit Shah was held at the official residence of the latter in New Delhi.
