ENPO reiterates election boycott ahead of Delhi talks

Mokokchung, 15 March (MTNews): Reiterating the Chenmoho Resolution, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has further affirmed that they shall “not participate in any central and state election” if the offer for the creation of the Frontier Nagaland Territory is not settled by the Government of India through the Ministry of Home Affairs before the declaration of the Election Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha 2024 as assured by Union Home Minister on 7 December 2023.

The ENPO further stated that the people of Eastern Nagaland will not be held responsible for any situation that may arise. Additionally, it added that the ENPO shall not accede to any assurance that may come from the MHA to be implemented after the upcoming Parliamentary election process.

The Eastern Nagaland Legislators Union (ENLU) has reportedly left for Delhi on 15 March in hopes of meeting Home Minister Amit Shah. In this regard, the ENPO informed that due to the impending travel of the Eastern Nagaland Legislatures’ Union (ENLU) to New Delhi on 15 March, the meeting has been rescheduled to 19 March 2024, from 10:00 am onwards at CKS Hall Tuensang.

The ENPO further requested the Rajya Sabha MP, the 20 elected members of Eastern Nagaland, House of 13th NLA-ENLU Chairman/Secretary; ENGOA president along with 8 members; Talk Team; ENPO advisors, and former presidents of ENPO, ENWO, ENSF presidents to be present at the rescheduled meeting.
