Tuensang, 19 March (MTNews): Following the public meeting held today at CKS Hall in Tuensang, the Eastern Nagaland community has unanimously resolved to abide by the Chenmoho Resolution of 23 February 2024. This resolution, which dictates not to participate in any central and state elections and urges all citizens of Eastern Nagaland to refrain from casting votes, was made in response to the Government of India’s failure to settle the offer for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory, as assured by the Union Home Minister on 7 December 2023.

The meeting also resolved to temporarily suspend all ongoing restrictions under the Eastern Nagaland Public Emergency, effective 21 March 2024. However, it was clarified that the Eastern Nagaland Public Emergency shall continue to be in force until further notice.

The house also endorsed ENPO to devise strategies for the successful implementation of this public resolution.

Furthermore, the public meeting unanimously resolved that ENPO will write a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI, “not to entertain any write-up/suggestions from any individual or group with regard to Frontier Nagaland Territory other than ENPO.”

The house also endorsed ENPO to convene another public meeting, along with all 20 ENLU members, within a week’s time at Tuensang HQ, in consultation with ENLU.

This decision was reached after a day-long deliberation on the Government of India’s failure to settle its offer for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory before the declaration of the Election Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, as assured by the Union Home Minister on 7 December 2023.
