Tuensang, 12 March (MTNews): In the midst of the ongoing ‘Public Emergency’ in Eastern Nagaland, the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) and its federating units have issued a directive to the Rajya Sabha MP and all 20 elected members from Eastern Nagaland to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to arrive at Tuensang headquarters within 36 hours, effective from 12 March (6:00 pm) to 14 March 2024 (12:00 noon).
The federation has also instructed all frontal organizations, tribal bodies, and officials of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) stationed in Tuensang to refrain from returning to their respective tribal headquarters until the Rajya Sabha MP and all 20 elected members from Eastern Nagaland report in Tuensang as directed.
Since 8 March, Eastern Nagaland has been under a state of ‘Public Emergency’ resulting in the closure of all government offices and restrictions on the movement of government vehicles, both state and central. However, restrictions on public movement, private vehicles, and the closure of business establishments have been relaxed until further notice.
The declaration of ‘Public Emergency’ by the ENPO comes in response to what they perceive as the delay by the Government of India in settling the offer for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory through the Ministry of Home Affairs.
