As part of the second phase of its agitation, the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has directed all its federating units to seal down all government offices, close all government schools, and restrict the movement of government-registered vehicles within the eastern region of Nagaland starting September 15, 2025.
The ENSF said the decision follows the failure of the Department of School Education to address its demand for the retention and deployment of teachers to the affected schools, despite repeated appeals and the completion of its first phase of agitation.
In a joint statement, ENSF vice president Sethrongha Y Sangtam and secretary general James Konyak said the shutdown would remain in force “until further orders” unless the state government intervenes to resolve the issue.
However, the federation clarified that essential services would remain outside the purview of the agitation. Exempted from the shutdown are offices and departments related to District Administration, Medical, Police, Fire & Emergency Services, Power, Paramilitary forces, and Banking.
