Mokokchung, 6 March (MTNews): The Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students’ Union (ENSSU) has expressed strong reservations on the transfer of school teachers from their jurisdiction without replacement. In a letter to the Principal Director of School Education, Nagaland, Kohima, the ENSSU said that it acknowledged the need for additional teachers in certain schools, but added that they are concerned that “transfers have taken place without timely replacement.”

The ENSSU also requested the District Education Officer (DEO) and Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) to “refrain from releasing any teachers until suitable replacements have been arranged.” It further urged all School Management and Development Committees (SMDC) and Village Councils to withhold No Objections Certificates for any teacher “until the necessary replacement process is completed.”

The ENSSU emphasized that “any individual facilitating the release of teachers without appropriate replacements will be held solely responsible until the government resolves this matter amicably.”

The ENSSU letter to the PD, appended by its president Tonika G and general secretary Anaka S Chophy, was submitted through the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire.
