The Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme has been extended to all districts of Nagaland, the Department of Labour Commissioner announced in a circular, following notifications issued by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India.

According to the circular, the extension comes into effect from May 1, 2025 and November 1, 2025, as per Gazette of India notifications No. CG-DL-E-15042025-262455 dated April 15, 2025, and No. CG-DL-E-18102025-267025 dated October 17, 2025.

The Department has directed all employers in establishments employing 10 or more persons to register themselves and their eligible employees under the ESI Scheme on or before January 31, 2026. The types of establishments covered include:
•Shops
•Hotels
•Restaurants
•Road Motor Transport establishments
•Newspaper establishments
•Private Educational Institutions
• Private Medical Institutions

The circular emphasizes that timely registration is mandatory to ensure coverage under the ESI Scheme.
