At the outset, I congratulate the State Election Commissioner Shri T. John Longkumar IPS (Rtd.) and his SEC team of officials for the successful conduct of the recently concluded Urban Local Body (ULB) Elections in an “outstanding, excellent and unbiased, democratic manner”, in our State of Nagaland, held after a gap of little more than 20 years.

I also thank the various units of security agencies, Village Council officials and CBO’s for working round the clock and most importantly the 4th Estate media fraternity in covering the ULB election in all fairness and wide publicity.

I congratulate all the winners of ULB in our State and also urge upon the losers not to disheartened after losing understandably with the fact that you must have given your best effort in all ways possible but remembering the great South African beacon of democracy Nelson Mandela who was put in jail for 27 long years in Robben Islands but finally came out to fight election and win. Let his quotes inspire all the defeated contestants “A winner is a dreamer who never gives up”, “Remember that hope is a powerful weapon even when all else is lost”, “It always seems impossible until it’s done”.

Personally speaking even I have been defeated 3 times consecutively in electoral fray, but my competitive spirit lives on till the day I shall attain victory.
