The Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) has expressed shock and sadness at the news of the sudden demise of one of its senior members and former minister, Mavil Khieya, in Kohima on 18 January 2025.

Mavil represented the 14 Southern Angami-I assembly constituency in the 7th and 9th Houses of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and had been a member of Ex-PAN since 2003. “Till date, he had been an active participant in the activities of the association, providing invaluable advice and support during his association with Ex-PAN, and his passing is a great loss to the Ex-PAN family,” the association said in a condolence message.

“Having represented his people as a member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the late Mavil discharged his responsibilities by working tirelessly for the welfare and uplift of the Nagas in general, the Angamis, and the people of Southern Angami-I in particular,” Ex-PAN added.

The association said that his demise is not only a loss to the Angami community but to the Nagas as a whole. It also conveyed condolences to his wife and the members of the bereaved family.
