The Department of Political Science, Fazl Ali College, conducted its ‘2nd Political Science Association (PSA) Mock Parliament’ on March 31 under the theme “Democracy in Action through Youth Debating the Future of the Nation”.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Lipokrenla Jamir, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, who introduced the concept of democracy and highlighted the importance of political education in exercising democracy in its truest sense.

The special invitee, Lanulemba Longchar, alumnus of the college and President of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang, reflected on the lack of opportunities a decade ago and contrasted it with the privileges available to the present generation. He encouraged students to seize every opportunity to realise their full potential. Emphasising the importance of participation, he urged young people to step into the role of lawmakers and actively engage in debate and discussion, stating that a nation progresses when its youth speak with purpose. He also noted that leadership is not about winning arguments but about providing solutions that make a difference.
