Mokokchung, September 27 (MTNews): An extension wing of the Valley View Girls Hostel (VVGH) at Fazl Ali College (FAC) was inaugurated by R. Arenla Aier, Vice Principal, Fazl Ali College at Valley View Girls Hostel on the 27th September 2022. The hostel extension included a 14 bedded extension wing in order to accommodate the increasing number of hostel applicants in the college.

According to P. Tiatemsu, warden of Cool Creek Boys Hostel and a member of the college hostel committee, the hostel extension was a crowd-funded project built with contributions from faculties, hostel committee, uniform committee and fund-raising project undertaken by the hostellers.
According to him, about 60% of the college students came from outside of Mokokchung among which 91 applicants were girls this year with only 15 vacancies in the hostel.
“The task of allotting the seats becomes very difficult as everyone deserves the seat,” he said and noted that many students couldn’t afford private hostels.
Keeping such difficulties in mind and also to be in accordance with the need of the College to develop into a multidisciplinary Higher Educational Institute as mandated by the NEP 2020, the Hostel Committee, consisting of four hostel wardens of the college decided to construct a 3-room hostel with accommodation facility for 14 students.
In a short program at the hostel’s Chapel Hall, Principal of Fazl Ali College Dr. I. Wati Imchen commended the Hostel Committee for their unprecedented initiative. He claimed that Fazl Ali being a nonprofit institution, its teachers and staff bear liabilities rather than profits.
As Hostels are where people learn from one another, he also exhorted the students to turn them into beautiful domiciles.
The program was chaired by Dr. Ziu Ziu Iheilung, Warden of VVGH while Arennaro of BA 1st Semester shared the testimony of a hosteller and Monglier, Associate Pastor, MTBA pronounced the dedicatory prayer.
