Farmer-scientist interaction program held in Mopungchuket village

Mopungchuket, 19 April (MTNews): A one day farmer-scientist interaction program was conducted on 18 April at Mopungchuket Village, Kobulong Block by ATMA Mokokchung.

 

 

 

The main objective of the interaction program was to exchange views and experiences directly with the farmers on different problems in agriculture and allied sectors and to provide technical guidance.

 

The farmers were sensitized about millets and its dietary importance, insect pest and disease management in horticultural crops, fishery pond management and composite fish culture, awareness on deterioration on soil structure by usage of salt, proper care and management and procurement of swine by resource persons Imtisenla, ACTO (agronomy) KVK,Yisemyong; Dr Imchalemla, SDHO Tuli, Department of Horticulture, Mokokchung; Dr Sentirenla Longchar, VAS, AH & Vety Services, Mokokchung; Neken, AFI, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Mokokchung; Lanuchuba, AFA, District Agriculture Office, Mokokchung.

Further, discussions based on queries raised by the farmers were carried out in several topics like reduction in paddy yield, management of fall armyworm in maize, training and pruning of citrus trees, postpartum paralysis of sow and retarded growth of fish in fishery ponds. Altogether 25 farmers and 12 officials from agri & allied departments and ATMA attended the program.

 

The program was chaired by C Amongla Jamir BTM, Kobulong Block. While delivering his welcome address, P Imti Tzudir, District Agriculture Officer & PD ATMA, Mokokchung encouraged the farmers to share their problems and experiences faced in their fields.
