A two-day program on activities such as demonstration, training, and capacity building was conducted by ATMA Mokokchung, Chuchuyimlang Block, on 8th and 9th April 2025 at Chakpa village.
The resource persons were Chubaienla Jamir, ATM, Chuchuyimlang Block, and Abenla B Jamir, ATM, Chuchuyimlang Block. Topics such as training on management practices of silkworm rearing, demonstration on cultivation practices of bush bean, and capacity building on mushroom cultivation and value addition of mushroom were covered.
The activities were conducted with the aim of promoting silkworm rearing and mushroom cultivation, and encouraging farmers to generate income through various potential farming practices. The resource persons highlighted the scope and technology of silkworm rearing, mushroom cultivation, and cultivation practices of bush beans.
Hands-on demonstrations on value addition of mushrooms, such as pickle making and preservation through drying methods, as well as the step-by-step process of mushroom cultivation — including cutting of paddy straw, sterilization processes, preparation of mushroom bags, and stacking of mushroom bags — were conducted with the active participation of farmers. Inputs such as seeds, mushroom spawn, pickling ingredients, and containers were also distributed to the farmers.
A total of 20 participants attended the program.
