Farmers from four villages of Zunheboto district gathered at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Zunheboto, under Nagaland University to witness the live telecast of the release of the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 13.

The programme was organised to enable farmers to watch the nationwide event marking the release of financial assistance to beneficiaries under the PM-KISAN scheme. Farmers who attended the event expressed appreciation for the Government of India’s continued support to the farming community.

During the programme, Wapangtoshi Longkumer, ACTO (Plant Protection), KVK Zunheboto, conducted a technical session on pest management. He trained farmers on eco-friendly pest control methods, highlighting the importance of timely pest identification and integrated pest management practices to reduce crop losses. Farmers were also provided with yellow sticky traps to help control pest populations.

Earlier, Principal Scientist and Head of KVK Zunheboto, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, welcomed the farmers and highlighted the role of the PM-KISAN scheme in supporting farmers’ livelihoods. He encouraged farmers to utilise the financial assistance effectively to improve agricultural productivity and strengthen farm-based livelihoods.
