A two-day workshop on “The Fashion Designers’ Toolkit: IP, Branding & Business Essentials” commenced today at Centre of Excellence for Music and Arts (CEMA) in Kohima.
The workshop, attended by 75 participants, brought together designers, legal experts, educators, and young entrepreneurs to explore the vital intersection of fashion, intellectual property, branding, and business development.

The workshop is being organized by the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Fashion & Law Journal (FLJ). The Nagaland Designers’ Association (NDA) is supporting the event as a partner, and TS Academy of Design is the institutional partner.
The inaugural session was graced by Er. Keyiekhrü Rhütso, Principal of Government Polytechnic Kohima.
In his address, he encouraged participants to make the best use of the opportunity, to learn with intention, and to carry forward the insights gained into their life and professional journeys.
Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director of TaFMA, delivered the welcome address and reaffirmed TaFMA’s commitment to supporting creative and cultural professionals in the state.
Workshops on Day 1 were conducted by experts from the Fashion & Law Journal, including Anuj Kumar, Founder & CEO, who led insightful sessions on intellectual property rights, brand protection, contracts, and the legal foundations of the fashion industry.
Rosou Rhi, President of the Nagaland Designers’ Association, also addressed the gathering, sharing thoughts on the importance of industry knowledge and community building among designers.
Day 2 of the workshop on July 10, will feature advanced discussions, hands-on segments, and an open Q&A.
All registered participants will also receive their certificates and a resource handbook during the closing program.
The workshop continues to serve as a valuable platform for nurturing creative professionals in Nagaland and building a more informed, confident, and legally empowered design community.
