Fazl Ali College and Sherubtse College begin Three-Day Academic and Cultural Exchange in Bhutan

A Three-Day Academic and Cultural Exchange Programme from  1st – 3rd October between Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and Sherubtse College, Royal University of Bhutan commenced at Sherubtse College, Bhutan with five faculty from Fazl Ali College led by Dr. Adangla Changkija, Assoc. Professor, HOD Dept. of Sociology, and eighteen students participating in the programme.

The student-faculty exchange programme under the theme ‘Strengthening Bond Beyond Borders’ holds significant importance in fostering cross-cultural learning, academic collaboration and mutual understanding between the two institutions. This exchange aims to enhance academic experiences and strengthen Bhutan-India educational relations while encouraging students to become active global citizens with a strong sense of regional identity. The collaboration between Sherubtse College and FAC is rooted in the shared commitment to academic excellence and intercultural dialogue.

The first day’s presentation of the host college began with an insightful overview of Bhutan’s biodiversity and its pioneering efforts in maintaining carbon negativity. Sherubtse faculty highlighted the country’s ecological richness and conservation strategies, underscoring Bhutan’s global reputation as a leader in sustainable development.

While FAC faculty Dr. Temjennaro delivered a comprehensive presentation of NEP 2020 in the context of Higher Education in Nagaland, Dr. Adangla Changkija presented an engaging exploration of Nagaland’s cultural diversity, its traditional practice (Past and Present) and Dr. P. Tiatemsu drew special attention to the ethnobotanical practices of the Ao Naga community, showcasing the deep-rooted knowledge systems that connect indigenous culture with sustainable living.

The exchange programme is more than an academic visit- it is a powerful step towards building bridges of understanding, respect, and shared knowledge. Through such partnerships, the two colleges continue to inspire students and faculty to think beyond borders, strengthen Bhutan-India ties, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
