Fazl Ali College organised an awareness programme on e-waste management as part of its week-long e-waste collection drive conducted from March 9 to 12, 2026. The initiative was organised in collaboration with E-Circle and sponsored by Earth Alliance to raise awareness about the environmental and health impacts of electronic waste and promote responsible disposal and recycling practices.

The session was moderated by Chubamenla Chang, Assistant Professor, who introduced the background of the e-waste collection drive and highlighted the need for responsible waste management in a technology driven society.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. I. Wati Imchen, Principal of Fazl Ali College, emphasised the importance of environmental awareness and responsible handling of electronic waste. He stated that meaningful environmental progress requires vision and collective effort. He also shared his vision of developing the college into an eco-friendly campus through effective use of available resources and responsible environmental practices.

Resource person Bendangwala Walling, co-founder of E-Circle, spoke about the growing presence of electronic waste due to rapid technological use. She explained the principles of responsible e-waste management including reduce, reuse, segregate, recycle and recover, and highlighted the environmental and health hazards associated with improper disposal of electronic devices.

Walling also discussed different methods of managing end of life electronic products, including refurbishing, recycling and treatment through authorised facilities such as Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities. Referring to the E-Waste Management Rules 2011, she cautioned against handing over e-waste to unauthorised agents and encouraged disposal through authorised recyclers.
