The Ayush Health and Wellness Centre, Fazl Ali College, organized a health talk on 23 September 2025 in the college auditorium. The in-charge of the Centre, Dr Aienla M Imchen, introduced her team and delivered talks on two key topics: the observance of World Rabies Week 2025 and understanding mental health.

In the first session, Dr Aienla highlighted the theme of World Rabies Week 2025, ”Act now: you, me, community.” She defined rabies, explaining that dogs are responsible for nearly 90 percent of cases. She elaborated on the modes of transmission, particularly through saliva, and described how the virus travels to the brain. The symptoms include confusion, agitation, difficulty in swallowing, and hydrophobia. She emphasized that rabies is among the most painful diseases and also discussed how animals display symptoms. Various types of vaccinations available for prevention were outlined, along with the categories of bites and the immediate steps to be taken after a bite.

The second session focused on understanding mental health. Dr. Aienla began with its definition and stressed that good mental health enables individuals to think clearly and contribute positively to society. She noted that the ability to manage one’s own emotions is key to understanding the emotions of others. She explained that the mind is largely shaped by feelings, often more than reasoning, making it important to distinguish between the two. She encouraged the audience to “know your mind,” which would help in making sound decisions, identifying triggers, and addressing personal traumas. Dr. Aienla highlighted three important steps for maintaining mental health: identifying the problem, acknowledging or accepting it, and taking steps to overcome it.
The program concluded with a photo session, marking the end of the event.
