Dimapur and Mon will face off each other in the final match on April 29 to lift Nagaland’s most coveted football trophy. Mokokchung Times reached out to the skippers of the two teams who share mutual respect for each other.

 

They were both trained in the same academy, State Sports Football Academy, Dimapur. Both captains demonstrated maturity when asked what think of playing each other in the final on Friday.

 

“I’m happy to see him play after so many years. I’m sure we will enjoy playing against each other. I wish him and his team the best,” was the Dimapur captain Kivi’s message. Ating, the Mon captain who is hugely popular among his fans said, “It will be an honor and privilege to play against one of the best players in Nagaland.”

 

While Dimapur has lifted the trophy multiple times, this is Mon’s first appearance in a final.
