Yarenjungla Longkumer, hailing from Longkhüm village in Mokokchung, was sworn in today as the Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court. She became the first woman from Nagaland to hold the position of a judge in the High Court.

The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by Nagaland’s Advisor, Tongpang Ozukum, who praised Justice Longkumer’s remarkable achievements in the legal field. Taking to X, Advisor Ozukum said, “This significant achievement reflects her outstanding legal acumen, dedication, and integrity. Wishing her continued success in this new and inspiring role.”
Justice Longkumer has served as the District and Sessions Judge in Peren and Kohima, as well as held the position of Secretary (Judicial) in the Law & Justice Department, among others.
