A team of five long-distance cyclists has achieved what may be a first-of-its-kind feat: completing the full Dzükou Valley trek in Nagaland with bicycles. The summit was reached at 10:03 AM on June 5, 2025, after navigating one of India’s most challenging trekking routes, known for its steep, narrow, and slippery terrain.

The riders carried their bicycles across the entire trail, relying on teamwork, physical endurance, and sheer determination to overcome a landscape typically considered inaccessible to cycles, according to an update received here from Amrit Kisku, All India Cyclist.

The riders were:
Amrit Kisku from Kharagpur, West Bengal: Currently cycling through his 24th Indian state (Nagaland) as part of an All India Cycle Tour, having already completed 23.

Amit Sangma from Kokrajhar, Assam: Has cycled across 18 Indian states, bringing his experience to this challenging expedition.

Anupam Das from Nagaon, Assam: A veteran cyclist who has completed 26 states and continues to push boundaries.

Chusrang Marak from Ampati, Meghalaya: Currently exploring his 4th Northeast Indian state, contributing youthful energy and drive.

Raaj Pal Kumar Mahato from Patna, Bihar: On his 24th Indian state, noted for his strength and consistency on the trail.

The Dzükou Valley trek is famed for its wildflowers and panoramic beauty but equally feared for its rugged trails, wet slopes, and unpredictable weather. While many attempt the hike on foot, this group chose to carry bicycles through the entire route, adding a level of difficulty few would imagine, let alone endure.

Their successful attempt not only redefines what’s possible on this trail but could also be a first recorded instance of completing the Dzükou trek with bicycles.

The team’s effort is about more than personal achievement. In a message to this publication, they described the ride as a symbol of:
Pioneering effort – Opening new possibilities in Indian adventure travel
Green mobility – Promoting eco-friendly exploration through cycling
Youth motivation – Demonstrating the power of discipline, vision, and unity
National unity – Riders from five different states, bound by a common dream

They hope this story will inspire more young people to take up sustainable travel and push the limits of their own endurance.
