The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Saturday clarified that it is not organizing the “Common Platform for Resolving Indo-Naga Political Issue” scheduled to be held on May 14 at Agri Expo, Dimapur, and has not yet agreed to be part of the event.
In a statement issued on May 4, the FNR said, “While the quest for Nagas to come together is clearly undisputed and needing careful and thoughtful steering, the ‘Common Platform for resolving Indo-Naga political issue‘ is not organized by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) nor has FNR come to the point of consenting at this point in time, to be a part of this program.”
The forum highlighted the importance of collective Naga efforts but stressed the need for more time. “A virtuous work needs the support of every Naga organization and some more time is needed,” it stated.
Although FNR has not made this public earlier, it revealed that since January 14, 2025, the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and Naga Tribal Hohos have already held nine rounds of meetings “based on the Historical and Political rights of the Nagas.”
“We are in the midst of a process and we have reached a sensitive point, which needs some more time. More meetings are on the schedule,” the forum added.
Affirming its commitment to inclusivity, the FNR declared, “All Nagas must come together and in this no one is left out.” However, it urged patience and understanding, stating, “Lest we falter, let us understand each other’s difficulties and be more patient. What we have garnered, with much toil, must not be allowed to slip by.”
FNR concluded by reiterating a shared conviction: “Doors must be kept open for the future.” It also called upon all stakeholders to honour the “Covenant of Reconciliation.”
