Food Safety Administration conducts FoSTaC training for food business operators in Kohima

The Food Safety Administration, Kohima Zone under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland conducted a two day training programme on Basic Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) on March 11 and 12, 2026 at the conference hall of Nagaland Institute of Allied and Healthcare Sciences.

The training was organised in coordination with training partners SBS Foresight Pvt. Ltd., Delhi, with the objective of imparting Good Hygienic Practices and food safety compliance to Food Business Operators.

Participants included food service operators from hotels, restaurants, cafes, college canteens and school mid day meal programmes. Street food vendors as well as street fruit and vegetable vendors also took part in the programme.

Altogether 200 Food Business Operators from the various establishments attended the training in batches. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Anup Kumar Tewari, an empanelled trainer of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The trainees will receive certification valid for two years through the training partners.

Officials informed that school mid day meal operators, college canteens and office canteens interested in availing the FoSTaC training may approach the Food Safety Section at the Chief Medical Officer’s Office in Kohima.
