The Football Coaching Clinic organized by the Youth Department of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church successfully concluded on Saturday. The clinic, which ran for three weeks from 19 June, catered to young players aged between 10 to 14 years, for both boys and girls.
Organized in collaboration with the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), the young trainees attending the coaching clinic were divided into three categories: boys 10-12 years, boys 12-14 years, and a separate category for girls.
With the objective of extending their mission beyond the pulpit, the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church’s Youth Department aimed to foster talent development in football, nurturing young players who could potentially achieve great heights in the sport. The coaching clinic received an enrollment of 134 aspiring players, out of which 96 participants successfully completed the program, including 80 boys and 16 girls. The aspiring players were guided by a team of 12 certified coaches throughout the clinic.
The closing program of the coaching clinic was graced by Colonel Rahul Gurung, a recipient of the Kirti Chakra and Commandant of the 12th Assam Rifles, Mokokchung who served as the Guest of Honor. In his address, the Guest of Honor expressed his appreciation for the parents’ unwavering support toward their children’s passion for football. He emphasized the importance of discipline as the essence of a successful sports player and commended the noble initiative taken by the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church’s Youth Department in nurturing young talents in the beautiful game of football.
During the closing ceremony, the Youth Department extended special thanks to the Commandant of the 12th Assam Rifles, the Mokokchung District Football Association, the Church, and the parents for their invaluable contributions, which greatly contributed to the success of the Coaching Clinic.
