The Lotha Hoho has firmly reiterated its stance on the ongoing deadlock between the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) and the unsigned contractors of Baghty Division. The decision was made after a series of meetings, including a critical session on February 12, 2025, where the Hoho stood by the resolution passed on January 16, 2025, during the Mokokchung meeting.
At the February 12 meeting, held at the Lotha Hoho Conference Hall in Wokha, the Lotha Hoho deliberated extensively on the issue. It was resolved that the Hoho would continue to support the resolution of January 16, 2025, as they are signatories to it. The Hoho also resolved to approach MLA Achumbemo Kikon to mediate and facilitate a settlement between the NFHRCC and the contractors to help move the project forward and expedite the work in the Wokha area.
The next day, on February 13, 2025, the Lotha Hoho delegation met MLA Achumbemo Kikon at his residence in Kohima to discuss the matter. Despite a lengthy discussion, the meeting ended without a resolution.
On February 14, the Lotha Hoho held a follow-up meeting and reaffirmed its earlier resolution. It was decided that the unsigned contractors must comply with the terms and conditions set by the NFHRCC, or they will be barred from executing the contract work until the deadlock is resolved.
“If the unsigned contractors proceed with the work without resolution, they will be held accountable for any consequences,” the Lotha Hoho warned. “The NFHRCC may take any necessary action, and the Lotha Hoho will be compelled to enforce the resolution made on January 16, 2025,” it added.
