Alichen, February 27 (MTNews): A major forest fire broke out on Monday evening in which a large area of forest cover was burnt down in Alichen above Unit Hospital.
Sources from the fire department said that upon receiving the information at 4:50 PM, the fire station from Mokokchung North and Mokokchung Central deployed a fire engine each with sufficient manpower.
While the cause of the fire was not ascertained till the time of filing of this report, the spread of fire had been brought under control.
