Zunheboto, 16 November (MTNews): The former BJP office bearers of the 31 Akuluto Mandal (Assembly Constituency) Committee, who had resigned just before the 2023 Assembly Polls, officially joined the Congress Party en bloc on November 15, 2023.
The event took place in Akuluto Town, Zunheboto, and was attended by prominent Congress leaders, including Capt GK Zhimomi, Vice President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), and Vikato Zhimomi, President of Zunheboto District Congress Committee (DCC).
“The fact that this is happening in a Constituency which had sent the BJP candidate unopposed to the Legislative Assembly just a few months back says a lot about the utter disillusionment of the people towards the BJP,” stated the NPCC Communication Department.
The NPCC further viewed that such development will act as a “huge morale booster to the rank and file of the Congress Party,” with General Elections right around the corner.
“The NPCC warmly welcomes the new entrants into the party fold, and wishes them the very best as they embark upon a new chapter in their political journey driven by the People Centric Ideals of the Indian National Congress,” added the NPCC.
