Former Minister Dr K Kath passed away on Monday at Olive Christian Hospital & Research Centre, Dimapur. He is survived by his wife, Ronsenle Kath, three sons, one daughter, and twelve grandchildren.
According to family sources, a send-off service will be held at 8:00 AM on November 18 at the family’s private residence at Bayavu Hill, Kohima. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM at Tseophenyu New Village.
In a condolence message, KG Kenye, Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs, said he was “deeply pained and saddened” by the demise of the former minister. “Lt. Dr. K. Kath served as Assistant Surgeon before he joined active State Politics. He was the first Cabinet Minister from the Rengma community. On his departure, we had lost a staunch regionalist and a prominent Ex-Parliamentarian,” he said.
Kenye added, “I along with my family convey my heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and Pray that the Almighty God grant timely solace. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has also expressed grief at his passing. In its condolence message, the party said it was “deeply saddened to learn the demise of Late Dr. Khasü Kath, ex Minister (Government of Nagaland) and former General Secretary (Administration) of the party.”
Describing him as “a senior politician and staunch regionalist,” the NPF said Dr. Kath had “contributed his best to the growth of the NPF party during his active years in politics” and that the party would “always cherish his contributions and efforts for the welfare of the party.”
“On behalf of the Naga People’s Front, we convey our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May the Almighty God grant them strength and comfort in this time of sorrow, and may the noble soul of Late Dr. Kath rest in his heavenly abode,” the message added.
