Former 24 Angetyongpang Assembly Constituency (AC) candidate Maongkaba formally joined the Congress party today in the presence of the President of the Mokokchung District Congress Committee and other party colleagues.
Maongkaba, who contested the 2023 General Assembly election on a National People’s Party (NPP) ticket, lost to the incumbent MLA and Advisor, Tongpang Ozukum. During a brief statement after joining the Congress, Maongkaba expressed confidence in the party’s prospects for the 2028 Assembly election under the leadership of Supongmeren Jamir, both at the state and district levels.
He conveyed full confidence in the Congress’s performance in the 2028 Assembly election under the leadership of MP Supongmeren Jamir and DCC President Watimongba Aier. Maongkaba also pledged his full support and cooperation to the party, vowing to work tirelessly to strengthen the party at the Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) level.
Maongkaba is the son of the late Sentichuba, an accomplished politician who contested ten assembly elections, winning seven of them.
