The Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) expressed deep sorrow at the demise of former Peren MLA, Kielu Ndang, who passed away this morning at around 6:50 AM at District Hospital, Peren, following a prolonged illness.

Kielu Ndang was first elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in a 1971 by-election on a United Democratic Front (UDF) ticket and was re-elected in 1974, serving until the imposition of President’s Rule in 1975. Known for his efforts to unite people across tribal lines, he played a key role in strengthening the democratic foundations of Nagaland during its formative years.
NPF conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for God’s comfort and strength during this time of grief.

Minister of Power and PDA spokesperson, KG Kenye, expressed his deep sadness, describing late Ndang as a “veteran ex-parliamentarian and a tall leader” whose contributions to the Zeliang people and Nagas in general will be cherished for generations. Kenye extended his family’s condolences and prayed for solace and strength for the bereaved family.

The Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) also mourned the passing of Ndang, calling him a dedicated leader who served the people until his last days. The association conveyed condolences to Mrs Lungchule and the family, stating that his presence would be sorely missed.
