Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Sports Council, Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, laid the foundation stone for an indoor sports hall at Police Reserve, DEF Wokha on June 28.

During the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ranjan expressed his appreciation to the State Government, DGP, and other officials for their logistical support and for allocating the land for the construction of the indoor sports hall at Police Reserve, Wokha. He highlighted that the project was initiated under the National Sports Development Fund and Khelo India scheme, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The indoor sports hall will feature two table tennis courts, one badminton court, and two squash courts.

Ranjan appealed to all stakeholders, including sports associations in the district, to extend their support and cooperation to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project. He emphasized that the facility aims to nurture new talent and benefit the youth, urging everyone to utilize it to its fullest potential.

Superintendent of Police, Wokha, Aotula T Imchen, IPS, also addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Ranjan for his swift initiative and realization of the project.

She thanked all officials involved for their contributions and called for collaborative efforts to ensure the project’s success. She expressed optimism that the facility will foster new talents who can compete on a global scale in the years ahead.
