St. Francis de Sales (SFS) Parish, Kohima Town, celebrated Easter Sunday with fervour, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During one of the two morning English Masses, Rev. Fr. Mathew Mhabemo, parish priest and main celebrant, extended Easter greetings while reflecting on the “empty tomb,” a symbol of Christ’s victory over death. He emphasised that failures should not hinder progress but lead to new life and hope.

In his homily, Fr. Mathew dwelt on the account of Peter and John rushing to the tomb after hearing from Mary Magdalene. While John, driven by love, outran Peter, he noted that Peter’s determination to keep running despite doubt and failure was noteworthy.

“Peter is very much like us. He had doubts, failures and weaknesses. Like him, let us keep running without losing hope,” he said.

He stressed that while failures are part of life, response matters. “Our failures may weigh us down, but if we keep moving, we too shall encounter new life and hope,” he added.

The celebrations concluded with an Angami Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Peter, assistant priest, marking the end of Holy Week.
