Prime Minister Modi discussed the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM in an exclusive interview with The Assam TribuneAMP. He said that the agreement, signed in his presence in 2015, “lays down broad principles within which the final agreement will be worked out.”

Asked when the final agreement can be expected, PM Modi said the Government of India is making all possible efforts to successfully conclude the peace talks with Naga groups at the earliest. He, however, did not spell any deadline.

“The Official Representative of the Government of India is holding talks with NSCN-IM and other Naga groups. The Government of India is making all possible efforts to successfully conclude the peace talks with Naga groups at the earliest,” the prime minister told the Assam Tribune.

PM Modi said that the Framework Agreement was signed with the NSCN-IM on 3 August 2015 as a result of initiatives taken by his Government “for a permanent solution to decades-old Naga political problems.”
