Khumpile H, founder of Smoky Pots Restaurant in Kiphire, shared the inspiring journey of bringing organic coffee from local farms to his café.

“Our goal is to promote local products and support our farmers,” Khumpile said. “We want to create a space where people can enjoy good food and drinks while appreciating the hard work of local farmers.”

In the green hills of Kiphire, a small family-owned farm grows organic coffee using natural methods. “These farmers take great care of their coffee plants, avoiding harmful chemicals and letting nature do its work,” he explained. The ripe coffee cherries are handpicked and processed with care using traditional methods, ensuring that only the best beans make it to the next stage.

When asked about how the beans reach Smoky Pots, Khumpile said, “Once the beans are dried and roasted to perfection, they come to our café, where Tsiliba, our expert barista, works his magic.”

Meet Tsiliba, the Barista with a Passion
Tsiliba is known as the best barista in town. His love for coffee goes beyond brewing—it’s about understanding its benefits and sharing them with customers. “Tsiliba knows that organic coffee is not just tasty but also healthy. It’s full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Plus, it’s lower in acidity, which makes it easier on the stomach,” Khumpile said.

Selecting the finest organic beans, each with its unique flavor. Using the pour-over method, he brews coffee that highlights the natural flavors of the beans. “When the coffee is brewing, the aroma fills the café, and customers can’t resist coming in,” Khumpile added.

Every cup of coffee at Smoky Pots carries a story—the hard work of farmers, the dedication of the team, and the health benefits that come with it. “We make sure that our customers not only enjoy a good drink but also feel connected to the journey behind each cup,” Khumpile said.

As word spreads about Smoky Pots and its commitment to organic coffee, more people are visiting to experience the cup. “It’s not just about the coffee. It’s about supporting local farmers, making healthier choices, and creating a community that values quality and sustainability,” Khumpile emphasized.
