The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Office Bearers (COB) held a consultative meeting at the party’s central office in Kohima, chaired by Senior Vice President Blaise Iheilung. The meeting, recorded by Press Secretary Mathew Rongmei, deliberated on crucial political issues, party affairs, and regional concerns, leading to the adoption of several key resolutions.

The party resolved to reinforce its presence at all levels by strengthening grassroots engagement and revitalizing party activities. An appeal was made to former party members who have distanced themselves from active participation, urging them to return and contribute to the larger interest of the Naga people.

On the Indo-Naga peace process, the COB called on both the Government of India and the Naga National Workers to expedite negotiations and arrive at an inclusive, acceptable, and honorable solution. The party also urged unity among National Workers to ensure a collective approach to the resolution.

Expressing strong opposition to the Central Government’s plan to construct border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border, the NPF asserted that such measures would disrupt historical and traditional ties between Naga communities on both sides. The party called for reconsideration of the decision and demanded that the Free Movement Regime (FMR), which has been revoked, be reinstated to allow cross-border movement without unnecessary restrictions.

The prolonged political turmoil in Manipur was another major concern discussed during the meeting. While reaffirming its commitment to the NDA alliance in the state, the NPF criticized the lack of proper consultation among coalition partners. The party called for better coordination and firmly opposed the imposition of President’s Rule, advocating instead for the immediate installation of a democratically elected government. Furthermore, the party demanded that all five of its MLAs be accommodated in the new BJP-led NDA dispensation in Manipur, highlighting its role as a trusted coalition partner since 2017.

Regarding the ongoing case related to the de-registration of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), the COB resolved that the matter should be settled outside the court. The party expressed concern that prolonging the legal battle would lead to further political negativity and strain relations with like-minded parties.

The meeting also acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of NPF legislators Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu, Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, and Achumbemo Kikon, MLA & Secretary General, for boldly raising key issues in the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in the interest of both the party and the Naga people.

Reaffirming its stance on the Central Government’s ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, the NPF reiterated its opposition, citing concerns over its potential impact on regional political autonomy.

The meeting also focused on strengthening party structures and improving internal communication. Achumbemo Kikon, MLA & Secretary General, emphasized the need for discipline within the party, streamlining operations, and strengthening activities at the grassroots level. He urged members who have not yet taken the oath of office to do so at the earliest, as assignments cannot be given without completing this formal requirement. Kikon also reflected on the current political scenario in Manipur and shared insights on strengthening the NPF’s influence.

Addressing the gathering, NPF President Apong Pongener expressed his gratitude to the office bearers for their continued dedication to the party. He emphasized unity and commitment, encouraging members to frequently visit the office and actively support one another. Pusazo Luruo, Working President, and Gonei-u Sirie, General Secretary, also shared their views on strengthening the party’s activities.

Formation of Resolution Committee
To finalize and implement the adopted resolutions, a Resolution Committee was formed with the following members: Khongjah Konyak – Convenor; Lanukaba – Member; Toniho Sheqi – Member; Diethoselhou Sachü – Member and Ciefüzü Cürhah – Member

The meeting began with an invocation prayer led by Akho Leyri, Vice President (Administration), seeking divine blessings for the success of the deliberations. The event concluded with a benediction by H Changlemba Chang, General Secretary, followed by a vote of thanks from Gonei-u Sirie, General Secretary, who expressed appreciation to all members for their active participation.
