Kohima, November 18 (MTNews): As India is set to assume the G20 presidency on December 1, it is reportedly planning to showcase Nagaland’s famous Hornbill Festival on a global scale through its programs. This plan to showcase the Hornbill Festival was discussed during a meeting between G20 Secretariat led by its chief coordinator Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
A team from the G20 secretariat, led by its chief coordinator Harsh Vardhan Shringla, undertook a two-day visit to Nagaland to explore opportunities in the state to showcase India’s cultural diversity through G20 programs which is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction to not limit G20 to major urban cities but use the opportunity to showcase India’s rich and diverse cultural landscape.
The Hornbill Festival which is scheduled to begin on December 1 coincides with the day India officially begins its presidency of the G20 grouping.
“India’s G20 is an opportunity for the state of Nagaland to showcase its cultural diversity, uniqueness and tourism potential,” a statement quoted Shringla as saying.
Rio during the meeting called it a great opportunity for the state of Nagaland and extended full cooperation from the state in all the activities of G20 in Nagaland.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rio also in a tweet said he met Shringla and his team to review the requirements for holding the G20 Business Meet in Kohima in April 2023.
“India’s assumption of G20 Presidency starts on the Statehood Day & this year’s #HornbillFestival will co-brand G20’s logo,” he added.
