Khamo expressed concern over landowners reclaiming ancestral land despite compensation, calling such actions a legal and moral setback to development. “It is a shame and a sin, lamenting that the Naga people have not realised this despite being Christians,” he remarked. He said the government now opts for outright land purchases to avoid recurring disputes.
He also highlighted political unity, especially after the Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) merger with the NDPP, strengthening Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s government. He urged grassroots support and noted the government’s efforts through CMHIS, CMMFI, and the Skills and Entrepreneurs Development Mission, promoting meritocracy and new opportunities beyond government jobs.
MLA A. Pongshi Phom, Guest of Honour and Chairman of DPDB Longleng, also addressed the event. He encouraged public ownership of government properties and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to development.
Assistant Chief Engineer Er. Sungtiba Amer presented the technical report, noting the GA Rest House is a G+1 RCC structure with a plinth area of 4,051.11 sq. ft. Completed in December 2024, the project was executed by M/s A. Pongshi Phom & Sons.
PPC President Y. B. Angam Phom thanked the government and urged further administrative upgrades. Earlier, DC Longleng W. Manpai Phom welcomed the gathering, noting the long-felt need for such a facility.
Later, Khamo and officials inspected the ongoing ADC office construction at Tamlu.
