The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar 2026 was inaugurated at Mopin Solung Ground in Itanagar on October 24, bringing together handloom and handicraft products celebrating the cultural traditions of Northeast India.

Organised by the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (NEHHDC) in association with the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the 10-day bazaar will continue until November 2.
The event features 56 stalls and aims to provide artisans, weavers and craftspersons with opportunities to display and sell their products to a wider audience.
The inauguration was attended by NEHHDC Managing Director Mara Kocho, Regional Director (North Eastern Region) of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) Hara Kanta Baro, and the Senior Assistant Director of the Handicrafts Service Centre, Itanagar.
The bazaar showcases traditional textiles, hand-woven products, indigenous crafts and other handmade items reflecting the diverse artistic practices of communities across the Northeast.
According to the organisers, the initiative seeks to improve market access for artisans and create greater public awareness of traditional craftsmanship, which supports livelihoods and contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage.
By providing a platform for artisans to present their products directly to consumers and potential buyers, the bazaar is also intended to encourage entrepreneurship and expand commercial opportunities for craftspersons beyond their local markets.
