The Gauhati High Court has directed the states of Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram to constitute a high-level committee to address forest encroachment issues along their inter-state borders.

The court has instructed the chief secretaries, heads of forest departments, and other relevant stakeholders of each state to convene a joint meeting and formulate a comprehensive plan to make the forest areas free of encroachment. All four states have been asked to submit the resolutions adopted by the committee, along with details of actions initiated, by the next hearing scheduled for November 4.
