In an exciting showdown at the Medziphema inter-school football tournament, GHSS Medziphema secured their place in the finals of the Higher Secondary category after a hard-fought victory over King David Higher Secondary School (KDHSS). Both teams battled intensely for midfield dominance throughout the first half, but it was a second-half strike from Wezote of GHSS that sealed the game. His stunning long-range effort caught the KDHSS goalkeeper off guard, leading to a 1-0 victory in favor of GHSS Medziphema.
The second semifinal was a lopsided affair, with SFS Higher Secondary School-A (SFS HSS-A) overpowering their counterparts, SFS Higher Secondary School-B (SFS HSS-B), with a commanding 7-2 win. Team A dominated from the start, controlling the midfield and launching relentless attacks. Their pressure forced two own goals from the B team, while Hongingmang, Robinson, Kevisede, Seginhao, and Satpu added to the goal tally for Team A. Paominlen and Mengulhoulie scored for Team B, but it wasn’t enough to halt Team A’s march to the finals.
The final match will see SFS HSS-A face GHSS Medziphema on Saturday at 1:00 PM in what promises to be a thrilling contest for the tournament championship.
In the High School category, the semifinals are set for September 27. SFS Higher Secondary School will take on GHSS Medziphema at 2:00 PM, followed by a clash between King David HSS and Rivenburgh School at 3:10 PM.
