The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has carried out a relief mission in support of communities affected by the violent attacks of May 7, 2026, in Kamjong district, during which houses in Choro, Wanglee and Namlee villages were reportedly burnt, leading to displacement and hardship.

The relief consignment included food items, clothing and emergency medicines, which were collected through contributions from GNF members, benefactors, friends and families, as well as donors from Nagaland and abroad.

In a statement, the Forum said the relief materials were mobilised and transported from Kohima to Ukhrul on May 30 by its relief team led by Convenor Chuba Ozukum and Co-Convenor Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu, along with members Tutu Jamir, Abel Chophy, Azo Wetsah and Neise Casavi. The Ukhrul coordination team was led by GNF General Secretary Lakpachui Siro.

The Forum expressed gratitude to former Co-Convenor Ram Muivah and his wife for hosting the team in Ukhrul and assisting with logistical arrangements. It also stated that a solidarity meeting was held with the Tangkhul Naga Long, Tangkhul Shanao Long and other community leaders.

The items were handed over to village leaders outside Choro Church, while representatives from Wanglee and Namlee villages were informed to collect their respective shares from Choro.

The GNF said it hoped the state government would expedite compensation and rehabilitation measures for the affected families.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Forum stated that it would continue to stand in solidarity with the victims and support their recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
