Mokokchung, June 16 (MTNews): A delegation of Global Naga Forum (GNF) leaders met the Assam chief minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati over the Naga peace talks Thursday evening. A member of the delegation, Rosemary Dzuvichu, said that it was a “fruitful closed door meeting” but did not disclose the details. The GNF delegation included its convener Chuba Ozukum, author Dr. Visier Meyasetsu Sanyu, Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu and James Lowangcha Wanglat, former Home Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

 

Earlier before meeting the Assam chief minister, the GNF delegation visited the NE Live television studio where they interacted with its chief editor Wasbir Hussain. The GNF members otld NE Live that they have high hopes from the NEDA convener as far as facilitation of early solution is concerned. Assam CM Sharma had made it amply clear earlier that he is not directly involved in the Naga peace talks with his role being limited to working with the core committee on Naga political issue in ensuring there is no break in talks.

Speaking to NE Live, the delegation said that it expects to have a fruitful discussion with the NEDA convener who they feel is going to play a very important role in the days ahead as far as the peace process is concerned. The delegation said that the people of the NE look up to the NEDA convener as an effective facilitator to the political solution at this crucial juncture.
