Sources informed that the ongoing talk between the NSCN-IM and the GoI which held its first formal meeting on October 9 will further continue on October 14. A 10-member delegation of the NSCN-IM, led by General (Rtd) VS Atem, Vice Chairman, including Imcha Longkumer, the former CFMC Secretary and also a long-time office assistant to Th Muivah, is in New Delhi for the talks.
While nothing has been disclosed on how the talks went, the NSCN-IM has been adamant on their demand of a separate flag and a separate constitution. The group has also been advocating for an inclusive solution that encompasses all Nagas across different regions under a unified umbrella, often referred to as a Pan Naga framework.
In a related development, T Ovung, president of the NPGN/NNC (N/A), has expressed support for the ongoing peace talks between the GoI and NSCN-IM in Delhi. Ovung emphasized the need for the negotiations to yield realistic results rather than ending inconclusively, as has been the case in previous discussions. He highlighted the importance of implementing the Framework Agreement, which he believes offers a lasting solution acceptable to the Naga people.
